754 Quick Change Tool (QCT)

When to Use

When customer solution needs high accuracy parts but size is small enough to fit in QCT mount.

Advantages
  • High accuracy +/- 0.1mm can be expected
  • Can do multiple stages i.e. ID & OD
  • Much easier to make and operate than a Small Steel Tool
  • High quality finish on thin materials and laminates
  • Can stamp rigid laminates up to 2mm (3mm possible but with poor edge finish)
  • Made from Rockwell 62 hard Steel giving a long lifespan.
  • Can be re-ground to re-sharpen.
Disadvantages
  • Slower to get to production than die tools.
  • Not as accurate as a tool with its own die-set
  • Not best suited to very large volumes i.e. 10K +
Cost
  • Typical QCT tool takes 40 hours to make and costs start at £500 and increases depending on complexity.
Timescale
  • 8-10 Working Weeks for tooling.
  • Parts can be produced on short lead time after this.
