When to Use

Cropping is used when the customer solution requires a large volume of cut rectangles and tolerance is not critical.  Longitudinal creases can also be added to some parts to allow for forming in the typical u shaped channels. i.e. motor slot insulation.

Advantages
  • No tooling costs
  • Fast setup
  • Fast Running
  • Great for simple parts
  • Can put simple creases in parts at the same time.
Disadvantages
  • Only suited to thin, roll based insulation i.e. Presspahn, Formex, Hostaphan
  • Needs to be slit first
  • Limitations of maximum size
  • Best tolerance +/- 1mm
  • Cannot have any cut outs or shapes must be a rectangle or square only
Cost
  • No tooling cost
  • Material costs can be low depending on product and width.
  • Batch Qty < 5000 – 1000 pieces per hour running speed
  • Batch Qty > 5000 < 10000 – 2000 pieces per hour running speed
