ELEPHANTIDE® Grade 3 was developed in co-operation with the power transformer industry to meet the special needs of manufacturers for a major insulation material which provides an optimum combination of electrical and mechanical strength, stability, low permittivity and maximum oil absorption. The furnish for this grade is prepared using the most modern techniques to ensure cleanliness and consistency of product.

The furnish is a careful mixture of electrical grade (kraft) wood pulp and new cotton threads which secures the important features of shorter drying times and excellent ageing properties. It has proved to be an ideal basepaper for Diamond Dotted Presspapers (DDP) used between the LV foils of distribution transformers where a good drying performance is vital.

ELEPHANTIDE® Grade 3 Presspaper is a pliant material favored by winders who appreciate its flexibility and the ease with which it conforms to an uneven surface. The paper is ideally suited for layer insulation , high to low wraps, lead exit protection, petalled ends, layer end packing and can be readily creased and formed into interlayer wraps with folded edges.
